Scientists and doctors from all sides tell us about the harm and benefits of alcohol, but so far none of them have answered the main question: how much do you need to drink to dance well, and, in general, do you need to drink for this? So, finally, journalists from The Times, under the supervision of scientists, conducted an experiment and found out how much you need to drink to not disgrace yourself on the dance floor.

The Times experiment involved 55 people, with neuropsychopharmacology professor David Nutt overseeing the proceedings. The subjects were asked to play the dance game Just Dance on Xbox. The idea is that players score points for performing dance moves correctly. The participants began playing sober, and then began drinking glass after glass of wine.

At first, the average score was not very high (4400 points). But as the alcohol was consumed, it began to increase. The peak occurred at the sixth glass (one bottle) - when the average score reached 6200 points, and then it began to decline, despite the fact that the enthusiasm of the participants did not decrease.

Nutt also believes that this experiment has its shortcomings. One of the problems is that it is unknown how well the subjects danced before the experiment: maybe the player danced poorly not because of the alcohol, but is generally bad at it and needs more time and alcohol. In addition, the degree of alcohol intoxication of the participants was not recorded, relying on their own assessment, which with each glass consumed became an increasingly less reliable source of information. Nutt suggested using a special device next time.
