Doctors were reproached for too explicit photos and they responded with a global flash mob #Medbikini

When it became known that the scientific medical journal Journal of Vascular Surgery ("Journal of Vascular Surgery") I was going to publish an article in the August issue about the moral appearance of surgeons, there was no limit to the indignation of medical workers. The flash mob #Medbikini immediately began on the web, which makes it clear that doctors and nurses are also people and the desire to be sexy has nothing to do with debauchery and, moreover, with professionalism.

An article in a respected medical publication is called "The prevalence of unprofessional content on social networks among young vascular surgeons." Its main idea is to draw a parallel between candid photos in a bikini from a vacation and the professional level of medical workers.

The announcement of the scandalous article

Most readers of the journal were genuinely surprised by the unscientific conclusions that the authors make, and some were seriously offended. In protest against such "research", a flash mob appeared on social networks under the hashtag #Medbikini, in which doctors pose in their most revealing beach outfits.

The action of doctors and nurses quickly became international and the attention to the article caused by the flash mob forced the medical journal to refuse publication, delete the announcements and apologize.

To show that beauty and sexuality do not interfere with professionalism, the girls published collages in which on one part of the picture they were in a bikini by the pool or on the beach, and on the other - in a medical suit or bathrobe at the workplace.

A year ago, a similar flash mob was organized by Russian teachers, defending their colleague. The girl posted her photo in a swimsuit and was accused of violating professional ethics.
