The diagnosis was made to the girl at the age of 8 months, and since then she has undergone more than 30 operations and is connected to a ventilator for 12 hours a day. And finally her dream came true — an evening was arranged in her honor, where Jerika was chosen as the queen of the ball.
Due to the illness and the last operation, the girl is experiencing unbearable pain. Just this summer, she decided that she had had enough, and in August she would be disconnected from the machines.
Hundreds of people took part in "Jay's Last Dance", during which she was named the queen of the evening.

School friends, the girl's mother and her relatives gathered at a dance dedicated to Jericho. Jerika was accompanied to the dance floor by her mother Jen.

A 14-year-old girl decided to die after a recent operation, because of which she is already experiencing unbearable pain.

"I was ready then. I've been ready for a very long time," Jerica said. — After the operation, I wondered... am I doing this for myself or for my family?"

"And then I realized that I was doing more for my family than for myself."
Jen Bohlen, the girl's mother, promised her daughter long ago that she would fulfill all her wishes when it would be impossible to live with chronic pain. But that doesn't mean she took Jerica's decision lightly.

Jen said that if her daughter has come to terms with such a decision and it's better for her, then she will not interfere.

"In her 14 years, she has endured more than any adult. She's smart enough to make decisions. It's her body and her pain."

Jerica's mom and her whole family tried to make the girl's life as normal as possible.

Jerica was treated for many years, which prolonged her life. She was always a cheerful and happy girl, despite the fact that she never walked, ran or rode a bicycle.
