More than 190,000 British servicemen are overweight, of which 17,000 are obese people who need professional help. The British tabloid Daily Mail published a photo in which the British military has a noticeably huge belly. This immediately provoked lively discussions on the web. And Colonel Richard Kemp, the former commander of the British contingent in Afghanistan, called for the dismissal of all fat men from the armed forces.

The soldier who was caught in the camera lenses belongs to a unit from Scotland, as can be seen by the patch. The man clearly needs the help of a nutritionist: his stomach bulges and rolls over the belt, posture and gait are broken. Judging by his appearance, the man also suffers from excessive sweating.

Such photos became popular after the heat of passions around the "fat man in military uniform".

In July 2018, data were published according to which, in the British army, more than 8,600 military personnel are obese. However, this information can be significantly downplayed.

In the Royal Navy there are 4,666 servicemen with extra kilograms, in the Air Force – 4274. This is the highest figure in the history of the British army.
