Photographer Dinah Fried made a cute series of photos called “Fictitious Dishes” – dishes from various works of art. And we offer you excerpts from works that describe these dinners.

1. The Catcher in the Rye (“The Catcher in the Rye”).

“Whenever I go out, I usually have a Swiss cheese sandwich and a glass of malted milk. Mere trifles, but there are a lot of vitamins in milk.”

2. Oliver Twist (“Oliver Twist”)

To this end, they made an agreement with the water company for an unlimited supply of water, and with a grain agent for a regular supply of oatmeal in moderation, and decided to give thin porridge three times a day, an onion twice a week, and half a roll on Sundays.

3. Alice in Wonderland (“Alice in Wonderland”)

4. Moby Dick (“Moby Dick”)

A whole chapter XV is devoted to this soup. The name of the dish in the novel is "chowder", a seafood soup. With the translation into Russian, however, a complete disaster, in the canonical translation it was called "boiled fish."

5. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

She dealt with her hunger by going to the kitchen and turning on the coffee maker. Before that, she had not eaten anything for many hours and now she made herself three large sandwiches with cheese, caviar and hard-boiled eggs.
