45-year-old Fatima Munye and 53-year-old Niyaz Bano from Pakistan were doused with acid, after which terrible scars were left on their faces. 24-year-old Zahida Parvin burned her face when a gas cylinder exploded in the kitchen. To these three women, a British surgeon performed a rare eyebrow transplant operation for free.

Dr. Asim Shahmalak, who lives in Manchester, periodically comes to Karachi (Pakistan) to perform operations for free. In his own words, he plays a small role in the phenomenal efforts of surgeons to help women cope with life-changing injuries. He's doing a hair transplant from his head to his eyebrows. Asim is one of nine surgeons in the world who perform such operations. He said he cried when he first heard the stories of acid attack victims he treated in a Karachi hospital.
