Brazilian city terrorized by monkey with machete

It is well known that monkeys often repeat the actions of humans. Unfortunately, they adopt not only the good. In the Brazilian city of Correnti, a monkey armed with a real machete has been playing pranks for a week. The local residents have conflicting feelings about the animal. On the one hand, it's funny to them, but on the other ... in general, a primate with a cold weapon is not what you want to see in the morning on your windowsill.

The authorities of the city of Correnti in eastern Brazil do not want to get involved with an armed monkey. All attempts of the townspeople to catch and disarm her ended in failure. Residents of the city watch the little thug every day and document his antics using smartphones.

A man named Alessandro Guerra filmed the moment when a monkey thoughtfully sharpens a machete against the wall of a shopping center. Obviously, the animal saw this action somewhere and liked it. The bravest townspeople call the animal to them and they even manage to touch it. But to catch a macaque and take away the cleaver from them does not work.

The animal feels quite at ease in the city. It has already visited several apartments, leaving a mess there. In addition, the monkey runs on the roofs and bangs his weapon on the drainpipes and just on the roof. They say that in some places her actions caused serious damage to the residents.

Guerra told reporters that the residents of the city were divided into two camps. Some are afraid of the monkey and are dissatisfied with the fact that because of it they have to keep the windows closed in the heat. Others, on the contrary, are simply delighted. Some interesting events don't happen very often in the city, and the macaque with a machete quickly turned into a local meme.

Complaints about the animal were received immediately in three instances. The statements were registered with the Environmental Police, the Brazilian Institute of Environmental Protection and the Correnti Department of the Environment. But these respected institutions are in no hurry to send specialists who will solve Correnti's problems. So far, they only promise that they are about to be caught.

This week, this is the second monkey that has come to the attention of the media in connection with illegal arms trafficking. In Mexico, a monkey equipped as a real fighter died in a shootout between members of drug cartels.
