This is far from the first such action, referring to the tradition of branding animals. This movement was born in Israel at the end of last year. Since then, similar demonstrations have taken place in Italy, the US, Argentina, the UK and other countries.

1. On June 26, activists held a rally in protest against cruelty to animals, during which they were branded with the number “269”. Similar stigmatization was already carried out by activists in Israel in October 2012.

2. Volunteers had the number “269” burnt into their skin, symbolizing the number on the tag in the ear of a calf filmed by activists on one of the largest dairy farms in the Tel Aviv area.

3. Brands with red-hot iron were placed on several volunteers, including women.

4. The media note that all the volunteers received medical care after it was completed, and since the activists are adults, such stigmatization was not illegal.

5. On October 2, 2012, Israeli activists began an action against cruelty to animals: then, during the theatrical performance, three volunteers were affixed with real brands on their chests and arms. (watch the video)

6. Subsequently, in Israel, dozens of people voluntarily got themselves tattooed with the number "269".
