In addition to Tom, Ada and her late husband had three other children—Barbara, Margie and Janet, who died at an early age. Before retiring, Tom worked as a painter and decorator for HE Simm. In 2016, he ended up in the Moss View nursing home because he needed constant care.
Ada and her son are inseparable and love doing everything together, especially playing and watching TV. "I visit Tom every day and wish him good night and good morning. And if I go to the barber shop, he waits for me to come back, greets me, stretches out his arms and hugs me."

"I'm glad that Mom lives here now. She looks after me and even sometimes says, "Behave yourself!""
Ada's granddaughter Debi and other family members constantly visit Ada and Tom and are very happy that they can be together. "They are inseparable. And it's good that they are being looked after 24 hours, 7 days a week," says Debi.
"Tom and Ada's relationship is very touching. We are glad that we were able to meet their needs. It is rare to see a mother and son in the same nursing home. We certainly want to make their time together as special as possible," said the manager of the institution, Philippe Daniels.

"You will never stop being a mom," says Ada.
