In his youth the future President together with friends from the section of martial arts took part in the filming as a stuntman. In the movies they had played the roles and the Germans and Soviet soldiers. For the Soviet students, it was good money for the day they could get up to 75 rubles.

The future President appeared in films together with his friend Arkady Rotenberg, whom he met in the section Sambo coach Anatoly Rachlin. Both became masters of sports and participated in competitions. In Soviet times, the involvement of wrestlers in movies as the stunt was a common practice.

According to the memoirs Shestakov, Putin starred in "the Siege" and "the Izhora battalion", but the name of the third film, he does not remember (according to different sources, it can be a military drama "the Star").

In the movie "the Izhora battalion" about the workers of the Izhora factory, which in the composition of the same battalion took part in the Second world war, the future billionaire Rotenberg played "simple Izhora worker" holding the Fort.

In the movie, also starred the coach of Vladimir Putin Anatoly Rakhlin. In his biography, "the Sensei of the President," he recalls that he played more than a hundred films.
