Underwater Museum of Forgotten Communism off the coast of Crimea
An unusual underwater museum is located near Cape Tarkhankut on the peninsula of the same name in the Crimea. In 1992, diver Vladimir Broumensky installed the first sculptures of Soviet leaders at the bottom, at a depth of about 15 meters. These sculptures were dismantled and removed from Crimean cities and settlements, so this can be called a recycling project. Browmensky planned to supply the underwater museum with statues of Mao Zedong, Mussolini and Napoleon, but it did not work out.
The museum subsequently became a favorite place for divers. They even began to replenish the exposition with new statues. At the moment, about 50 sculptures can be seen underwater, including Stalin, Lenin, Dzerzhinsky and Gagarin. And representatives of the underwater attraction are always happy to accept new exhibits.
