Toyota will build Woven City — the forbidden city of high technology

The Japanese company Toyota plans to build the city of the future Woven City at the foot of the sacred Mount Fujiyama. It will become the most comfortable settlement in the country, and at the same time will serve as a testing ground for innovative technologies. The company's plans are not long—term - construction will begin in 2021.

The innovative Woven City will be designed for only 2,000 residents. All the houses in it will be "smart", and the transport will be unmanned. Toyota wants to get a comfortable and safe space for people to live and work, where the maximum tasks will be solved by machines with artificial intelligence.

The apartments of citizens will have everything that inspired science fiction writers until recently, including intelligent protection and control systems, as well as equipment for monitoring the health of residents. Much attention will be paid to renewable energy sources. Woven City will be powered, for the most part, by solar panels. The area of the settlement will be 175 acres (approximately 70 hectares).

The first happy residents of the "city of the future" will be Toyota employees and their families, as well as a number of investors. An important nuance is that mere mortals will not be able to visit the city of Japanese innovations — this place will be the abode of the chosen. Since advanced developments will be tested in Woven City, in order to maintain secrecy, all residents will sign non-disclosure agreements.

45-year—old Dane Bjarke Ingels, architect and founder of the Bjarke Ingels Group, was entrusted to lead the construction of the "city of the future". At home, the engineer is known as the author of residential complexes and mountain dwellings. Working with such a large-scale project as the construction of an entire city does not frighten Bjarke, since his company employs more than 400 specialists.

I would like to hope that Toyota will realize its project and its fate will be different than that of the South Korean techno city SongDo, which has never become a dream city.
