The Nude Project by Matt Blam

In 2005, American photographer Matt Blam came up with the idea to photograph ordinary women in the nude, far from model appearance.

Gradually, the project began to develop, and we would like to tell you about it: its concept seemed to us not only original, but also socially significant in some sense.

1. After the first series of photos, Matt's wife, Katie, supported the idea of the project and became its kind of editor. She also came up with the motto of family work: "Every body is beautiful!"

2. And as a place for a photo shoot, the photographer decided to use the most comfortable area for models, where they feel confident and relaxed — their apartments.

3. Interestingly, the concept of the project implies the voluntary participation of the future model, that is, "volunteering". The photographer sees her for the first time just before the start of the photo shoot — there is no selection and requirements for the appearance of women.

4. All interested representatives of the weaker sex over the age of 21 can participate in the shooting.

By the way, when asked if there will be photos of men in the project, Matt answers this way: "I understand how high the requirements for the appearance of men in modern society are, but still the appearance of a woman plays a much bigger role in the perception of her by others. Often a woman faces harsh and sometimes rude criticism about her body. That's why I chose a woman as the object of my work."

6. One of the reviews on the project's website: "Thank you so much! I've never seen breasts like mine anywhere. It may sound silly, but I am inspired by the thought of another person with similar physical characteristics and how brave this person can be to show himself to the outside world!"

7. The project consists of two galleries — "North America" and "South America". The photographer considers the amount of material so far insufficient to be called a "Woman of the World". But in the future, he plans to remove the geographical division of the project's content.
