By Pictolic https://www.pictolic.com/article/the-disturbing-fantasies-of-the-new-dutchman-eric-tierolf.htmlThe artist from the Netherlands Erik Tierolf is our contemporary, but the handwriting of the classic is clearly visible in his paintings. His women are Rubens-like thorough, and the subjects of the paintings are filled with action and intrigue, like Jan Sten's. Connoisseurs of modern European painting all claim that Tierolf's works are disturbing and mysterious, but at the same time they attract with their charm.

Eric Tierolf was born in the Netherlands in 1963. In 1987, the artist received a bachelor's degree from the Academy of Arts in Enschede. In 1991, he held his first solo exhibitions and this year can be considered the beginning of his recognition as a painter.

Tierolf's paintings have been exhibited in the Netherlands, Spain, Denmark, France, Israel and the USA. They adorn the offices of large companies and the collections of connoisseurs of modern painting in different parts of the world.

Most of the artist's paintings are made in the style of realism, but they often contain surreal elements, often with dramatic overtones. I would like to call the master's works a modern Renaissance and they invariably arouse interest even among people who are far from art. Perhaps this is due to the fact that Tierolf raises modern themes in his paintings: relations between men and women, vices, indifference and violence.

Often in the artist's paintings you can see the sea and people struggling with the elements or meekly waiting for their fate. This is how Tierolf sees human life and the attitude of different people to it.

If you liked what Eric Tierolf does, then you will certainly not remain indifferent to the paintings of the American figurative artist Michael Bergt.
