Thank God, not on Nikolskaya: how English fans celebrated the victory of their national team
The victory of the England national team over Sweden in the quarterfinals of the 2018 World Cup (the first in 28 years) provoked festivities of fans. Overjoyed by reaching the semifinals, the fans splashed the fun out of the bars onto the streets, dancing on cars, blocking traffic, climbing bus stops and street signs. And all this joy, of course, was flooded with rivers of alcohol, so that especially devoted fans could not stand it until the morning — they lay down from fatigue on roads, curbs, stairs. And the good policemen collected them in the morning, like autumn mushrooms.
An unpleasant incident occurred in the center of London, where fans, distraught with joy, climbed onto an ambulance that arrived on call near the place of festivities, and jumped on it. The London Ambulance Service stated that there was "no excuse" for such behavior and vandalism, since the doctors of this car could not go to other calls due to the condition of the car.
It remains only to be glad that these English fans staged festivities not on Nikolskaya Street.

Obviously we are chuffed with the result this afternoon but there is absolutely NO excuse to vandalise emergency service vehicles by jumping on them..
