Swiss francs won the "beauty contest" among banknotes again

For most of us, banknotes are just pieces of paper with which we can buy goods or services. But, it turns out, there is an annual rating of banknotes, when experts evaluate not only the appearance of the bill, but also how hard it is to forge.

The jury of the annual competition, which is held by the International Banknote Society, awarded the title of "Best Banknote of the Year" to a 10 Swiss franc note. Not only is it stunningly beautiful (it depicts hands with a conductor's baton, the globe and Swiss roads), but it is also equipped with the latest protection standards.

Switzerland takes the first place for the second year in a row. Last year, the 50-franc note was the best.

A total of 170 banknotes issued in 2017 participated in the competition.

100 Norwegian crowns also made it to the final of the competition.
