"Sex and the City" star Kim Cattrall celebrates her 65th birthday

The TV series "Sex and the City", which was released in 1998, is rightfully considered one of the masterpieces of world television. Therefore, it is not surprising that his actors are known and loved in dozens of countries. Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones in the series, celebrates her 65th birthday on August 21, 2021, and we decided to tell you about her life and work, outside of everyone's favorite series.

Kim Cattrall was born on August 21, 1956 in the suburbs of the English city of Liverpool, in the family of a builder and a housewife. Despite the fact that there were no people of creative professions in the girl's family, she began to show acting abilities from an early age, touching relatives and friends.

Noticing her daughter's obvious acting talent, her parents did not prevent her from entering the London Academy of Arts after school. But Kim did not stay there for long and at the age of 16 she went to conquer America. Surprisingly, a girl from faraway England, who has no connections and even acquaintances, managed to firmly settle in New York and graduate from the American Academy of Arts.

Cattrall's debut on the screen was the little-known 1975 film "Rosebud". But already in 1979, she was entrusted with one of the main roles in the big-budget film "The Incredible Hulk" and was offered a contract with Universal. In 1980, Kat appeared in the film "Award", and in 1981 she received the main role in the film "Ticket to Heaven".

But the real recognition of the audience came to the actress only in 1984, after filming in the "Police Academy". Finally, they began to recognize her on the street and ask for autographs and photos for memory.

There were also roles in the saga "Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country", "Charlie's Angels", "Starsky and Hutch", "Colombo" and, of course, in"Sex and the City".

Kim starred in the series from 1998 to 2004, and then triumphantly returned to the feature film "Sex and the City", filmed in 2008. They say that due to serious disagreements with the authors of the project, the role of Samantha almost passed by Kim, but prudence prevailed – few people could imagine another actress in this role.

Now Kim Cattrall continues to act in films and commercials. In addition, she discovered her writing talent and published two books: "Dossier on sexuality" and "Find yourself".
