The Scottish whiskey brand The Glenlivet presented a collection of scotch, which was packed in edible capsules instead of bottles. It resembles a challenge during which teenagers ate laundry capsules.

Two years ago, people ate capsules of washing powder and filmed it on video. Now you can get drunk this way.

The capsules only need to be cracked: the packaging will break and 23 milliliters of whiskey will pour out of it. Capsules provide sensations of "an extraordinary explosion of taste".

The Capsule Collection line includes three drinks: with citrus, woody and spicy flavors. Shells for whiskey were created from algae by the company Notpla: it produces such packages for water, juices and other beverages.

So far, this format of serving whiskey will be used only during the London Cocktail Week, which will last until October 13. You can also try the capsules in one of the British bars.

The novelty of The Glenlivet caused a stir in social networks, but not because of whiskey. The brand's products reminded users of the Tide Pod Challenge, a 2018 flash mob popular in the United States, where people ate decomposable capsules of washing powder on camera. Tide Pod Challenge is considered one of the most harmful flash mobs: at some point, social networks began to fight it by deleting videos from bloggers.

Some users note that whiskey is usually drunk in small sips, and not in one gulp, as is the case with capsules. Others have noticed that such whiskey is difficult to dilute with water.
