A brave dog smelled a cub near the coastal town of Port Macquarie, which is located on the Mid-North Coast of New South Wales. The terrified baby, who was left without parents, was taken to the koala rescue center, where they immediately began to restore his health.

Now his weight is about a kilogram — he is still far from full recovery, but almost halfway successfully passed! Look at how Keli has transformed.

In the New South Wales region alone, approximately 30 percent of the entire population of these marsupial bears died — taking into account that more than 30 percent of their habitat was destroyed during the fires. The exact figures are still unclear, but local rescuers are trying to save the lives of everyone who can be saved.
