Sometimes photos from Australia seem unreal, so big and creepy are the local creatures. And quite often the Australians find these cuties just at home. Like this guy who recently posted on Reddit a photo of a huge spider of the golden worm (Nephila).

How brave do you have to be to bring your unprotected palm to a spider that is bigger than this very palm? Clarification — a venomous spider known in these parts, which does not disdain to eat even birds and bats!

Here is a photo that has stirred up social networks. It was made by Australian Patrick Berg, who went to his sister's barbecue in the town of Baderim in southeastern Queensland.

Roundworms-nephiles create a particularly strong and sticky web, on which they collect insects larger than flies — locusts, cicadas and other beetles. Sometimes predators do not refuse to eat a bird or a bat, which can not get out of the trap.

As experts on Reddit suggested, despite the impressive size, the nephil roundworms are not so dangerous to humans. Not in all cases, spiders of this species will use poison when biting.
