Rob Oechsle, a photographer and researcher, collected a series of photographs from the period 1870-1920 depicting geisha. These photos are made even more vivid by the fact that they depict these women in swimsuits and on themed backgrounds. This contradicts our traditional ideas about how these women lived and dressed in those distant times and gives us a deeper idea of the degree of influence of geisha on Japanese culture.
