Singapore-based photographer Fong Qi Wei has created a series of mosaic photographs called Time to Measure. The images consist of pictures taken at different times of the day. A stunning effect is achieved by changing the lighting that occurs during the day.
The photographer is not satisfied that any image shows only a single moment in time - a stopped moment.
“Our world is not like that. We live moment by moment. Therefore, the video looks more convincing than the freeze frame. I work with photography because I love it. But in a way, I wanted to break out of a single slice of time in photography,” says Fong Qi Wei on his website.
In his photo mosaics, Qi Wei mainly uses urban landscapes or nature views. The sequence of time slices covers 2–4 hours, mostly sunrises and sunsets. The result is mesmerizing images, which, according to the photographer, allow you to feel the time in individual freeze frames.
