The owner of the dog, Derek Bloom, says that despite his always angry and displeased appearance, Earl is very friendly towards other dogs and people. He loves all sorts of goodies, basking in the sun and chasing a ball around the park. And his "sullenness" is explained solely by the folds on the muzzle and the wrong bite.
