Five school friends have been repeating the same photo for more than 30 years

To keep in touch with the best school friends, and even more so to meet regularly, over the years it becomes more and more difficult, and most often it is simply impossible. But for the five friends from Santa Barbara, California, friendship has always been a priority. Every five years they get together and recreate the same photo that once defined their brotherhood for life.

Back in 1982, the five spent their holidays at Lake Copco in Northern California, the guys were young and cheerful, they were only 19 years old. Then they decided to capture that summer forever. Since then, the group began to meet at the same lake every year, and take a photo every five years. Everyone promised to find time and come by all means.

The guys combined their meetings into the Five Year Photo Project and recently, on June 24, celebrated the eighth addition to the photo series — 2017.

"In 1982, we took a rather strange photo. At that time, we had no idea that 30 years later we would be copying it." John Moloney holds a can of cockroach in his hand. Alive.

"In 1987, we were there again and decided to reproduce the same photo."

"It was cloudy and cold in 1992, so it was the first time all three of John were wearing T-shirts."

"In 1997, we deviated a little from the original. In the future, we decided to recreate exactly."

"In 2002, we tried to copy as best we could, although John forgot his glasses and everyone laughed at the huge jar."
