Film walk with Sergey Bodrov to the filming locations of the film "Brother"

Today, on December 27, 46 years ago, Sergey Bodrov was born in the family of the famous director Sergei Vladimirovich Bodrov. We want to recall one of his most popular works in cinema – the film "Brother".

At that time I had never been to St. Petersburg and perceived the city solely by that picture from the movie. Autumn, light sepia film ... a kind of Black dog Petersburg, painted in gray shades of despair, Russian noir. I won't talk about whether it was a good movie or a bad one in terms of the plot, I was terribly interested in the atmosphere of the film and the city itself. I wanted to touch these walls with my hands, feel the cold wind from the Neva, walk through those places. In general, the main character of the picture for me was not Danila Bagrov, but Peter himself. I don't know, there is some kind of strange, incomprehensible romance in this."

At the very beginning of the film, Danila Bagrov comes from a small provincial town to St. Petersburg, to his older brother. He walks around the center, admires the local beauties and periodically tries to call the hero Viktor Sukhorukov. The first picture shows the embankment of the Griboyedov Canal and the Kazan Cathedral.

Here, our character is walking along Millionnaya Street, crossing the Winter Groove near the Hermitage.

Then Danila goes towards St. Isaac's Cathedral.

The main character of the Bronze Horseman, apparently, is a little lost — he looks around in surprise, as if he does not know where to go next.

Tired of the search and thoroughly frozen, Danila sits down on a stone bench near the Trinity Bridge…

By the way, I always thought that this place was on the side of the Palace Embankment — but it turned out that the same bench is located on the Petrograd side. It turns out that the hero moved to the other side of the Neva.

Not finding his brother, Danila spends the night in the attic of one of the houses, and the next morning he meets a German selling at the Andreevsky market on Vasilievsky Island. Unfortunately, the market has been completely rebuilt, so I could not find the exact angle. We skip these episodes — the German leads the hero to the Smolensk Lutheran cemetery to "visit" himself.
