Dom Aquaree — a huge aquarium in Berlin's Radisson Blu Hotel

In Berlin, a giant aquarium that decorated the lobby of the Dom Aquaree Hotel near the capital's Alexanderplatz Square burst. As a result, about 1 million liters of water poured out.

In the lobby of the Radisson Dom Aquaree Hotel in Berlin, there was the world's largest cylindrical aquarium, the Aqua Dom. Its diameter was 11 meters, and the height of only the glass part was 16 m. The total weight of the glass is about 150 tons. A transparent elevator was installed inside the aquarium, accommodating forty people and lifting tourists to the observation deck. The aquarium was inhabited by about 2000 fish of various species, swimming at different depths. Scuba divers were used to feed them and clean the aquarium.

The tank contained about 1 million liters of water. According to the police, the water flowed into the street, creating a real flood on Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse.

Water from the damaged aquarium gushed into the street. Residents of Berlin were asked to go around the territory. About 100 emergency workers took part in the work to eliminate the leak.

The attraction in the Berlin hotel was launched in 2004 with 30 dioramas of freshwater and saltwater pools, as well as an elevator through the aquarium. A huge glass cylinder towered six stories in the atrium of the building.

The hotel is located close to Berlin's Alexanderplatz Square and the famous TV tower.

Dom Aquaree complex was built by the Tchoban Voss agency of Russian architect Sergey Choban. According to his projects, in particular, the Federation Tower in Moscow City and the Palace of Water Sports in Kazan were built in Russia.
