Bikinis of all ages are submissive: models over 50 speak out against stereotypes
British women's clothing brand JD Williams has launched a #MyBikiniSelfie campaign dedicated to encouraging women to feel more confident in bikinis, regardless of their age, figure type or clothing size.

As part of the campaign, 62-year-old ex-model Jilly Johnson, still in demand for underwear advertising, and 56-year-old model Nicola Griffin posed for a photo shoot in swimwear.

Nicola became a model only last year, but has already appeared on the pages of the American weekly sports magazine Sports Illustrated. She noticed that she had only recently put on a bikini for the first time in her life.

Only 4 percent of women over the age of 50 feel confident enough to post photos of themselves in bikinis.

"This campaign should convey an important message to women, and I am very glad to be a part of it. It's really cool to help women stop being constantly on guard and feel more confident to post photos in bikinis," Gilly said.

"Our bodies should be appreciated, no matter how old we are."
"The fashion industry is constantly criticized for the lack of representation of real women. We would like the campaign, which was greatly helped by Nicola and Gilly, to inspire women to feel more confident and boldly publish photos in bikinis on the Internet," said a representative of JD Williams.
