1. Mary suffers from Down syndrome, but this has not affected her friendship with Ben in any way.

“Many of Mary’s peers often shunned her and, due to Down syndrome, thought she was strange. But not Ben,” says Tom Lapkowitz, Mary’s brother.

2. Ben and Mary went to the same elementary school.

Ben has always been a very energetic child. He always looked after Mary and tried to involve her in any school activity. When he saw that she was bored, he immediately took her with him to play football. She loved it very much.

3. When they were in 4th grade, Ben promised Mary that he would take her to prom.

However, soon Mary moved to another school, and Ben continued to play football. But they miraculously met again when their school teams took part in the same championship.

4. And Ben, remembering his old promise, decided to surprise Mary.

8. "Ben restored my faith in humanity," said Mary's brother.

Ben's mom says she has always taught her children to "think about others first, love from the bottom of their hearts, and stand up for what they believe in until the very end." Today she can be truly proud of her son.
