These photos have everything: emotions, longing, bravado, annoyance, restless desires, sexuality, awkwardness, posturing and happiness. The world of American high school, streets, parking lots and beaches.
The result was two books of photographs - Almost Grown and Teenage.
"I wanted to show what they are like," Joseph Szabo said later.
