A study has shown that people with masks look more attractive than without

Do you remember the beginning of the pandemic, when people in masks seemed strange and caused disturbing feelings? Now everything is different. Psychologists from the British University of Cardiff found out that now masks are not only fashionable, but also beautiful. According to a study by scientists, people in masks are more attractive in appearance than those who do not wear them.

Another important reason to wear a protective mask was found during a survey in which 43 women of different ages participated. All participants were shown images of men in masks of different types, without masks, as well as with a book covering the lower part of the face.

After that, everyone was asked to rate each image on a scale from 1 to 10. It turned out that people in fabric, medical masks and respirators seemed more attractive than without them. Moreover, even a face covered with a book makes a person prettier. The absolute record of attractiveness was shown by men in disposable surgical masks.

But those who were without protection on their face received very low ratings. Now scientists are figuring out why such a result was obtained. But there are already several assumptions. The most likely is that the mask has become strongly associated with security, which subconsciously makes its owner cute. Perhaps there are other factors — they are now finding out. Later, the same experiment was conducted among men and it showed similar results.

At the beginning of the pandemic, everything was exactly the opposite. The masked man caused others an anxious feeling and was considered ill.
