A German working at the "remote" fell at home and received compensation from the company through the court

A German working remotely fell on the way from the bed to the computer and injured his back. His employer did not express a desire to pay for treatment, but the best German court in the world restored justice.

The lawsuit, considered by the Federal Social Court, states that in the morning the man left the bedroom and, climbing the spiral staircase to the second floor, fell. He suffered a back injury and turned to his employer for compensation. The fact is that he fell for a reason, but "on the way to the workplace." This means that at this time the man was already at work.

But the employer's insurance company did not get into this explanation and refused to pay the "remoter" for medical expenses. The man, whose name is not called, went to court and won the case without much difficulty. Now his medical expenses will be paid, and in addition he will receive compensation for moral damage.

Among the circumstances of the injury there is an interesting clarification, understandable only to the Germans. It is emphasized that the employee was injured "immediately, without having breakfast before that." It turns out that compulsory accident insurance is provided to an employee only on the way to work. If on the way a person turned aside to have a snack, and then injured himself, he will not receive money. Therefore, in Germany it is better to get into trouble at work on an empty stomach. The court 's decision says:

To the objections of the lawyer defending the interests of the company, the court replied that the fact that the employee works at home does not change anything at all. We do not know whether the injured German has always worked at home or whether this is a temporary measure related to the pandemic.

Due to the restrictions caused by the coronavirus, labor laws have been changed in many countries. For example, in Portugal, employers were forbidden to harass employees outside of working hours.
