A dizzying sight: the glass platform above the Grand Canyon

The observation deck above the Grand Canyon is a transparent ledge in the shape of a horseshoe. This miracle is located in Arizona, not far from the Colorado River, on the very edge of one canyon wall. The platform is built at a height of 1450 meters, and the rise of the Colorado River is 350 meters. The height of the distance between the platform and the bottom of the canyon ranges from 150 to 240 meters.

1. The Indians of the Hualapai tribe, wanting some kind of attraction to appear on their reservation in the Grand Canyon area, gave permission to build a Skywalk observation deck on the edge of the abyss, the depth of which exceeds 1200 meters. The glass and metal horseshoe cost $30 million.

2. The Grand Canyon is one of Mother Nature's most amazing creations. Just imagine that for millions of years the Colorado River cut through the deepest gorges in the rocky rocks. Their unusual shape and enormous scale are unlikely to leave at least someone indifferent. And if you bring a little human extreme to the beauty around, then the tested cocktail of emotions and sensations will enchant and attract you to these places again and again.

3. Literally, they figured it out in the office that has the rights to conduct tourist commerce in this region of America, and ordered the construction of a kind of observation bridge hanging over the gorge, more than one kilometer deep.

4. The cantilever bridge, which embodies the functions of a viewing platform with a large outlook, was named "Skywalk" (Skywalk).

5. The construction of Skywalk was started in 2004, and the grand opening ceremony of this miracle took place on March 20, 2007. Subsequently, according to the American tradition of making money, a small tourist center was also built near this observation bridge. The entire complex cost the company $31 million.

6. Today, the Grand Canyon Skywalk has become one of the most famous tourist spots in the Grand Canyon.

7. A unique viewing platform with a transparent floor, hanging over the abyss, has the shape of the letter "U", the width of the bridge is about three meters. The floor and enclosing walls of the site are made of special laminated glass.

8. The extreme Skywalk bridge is able to withstand a load of more than 70 thousand kilograms, however, in order not to expose the structure to excessive stress, more than 120 visitors are not allowed on the Sky Walk at the same time.
