The problem of pollution of nature reaches such proportions that it is simply impossible not to pay attention to it. In the last 10 years alone, more plastic products have been produced in the world than in the last century. Only 5 percent of garbage is recycled, and everything else accumulates in landfills and in reservoirs. Photographer Jefferson Lankford showed in his photo project what we are doing with the planet.

"Willful Ignorance" is a series of photographs by American photographer Jefferson Lankford about mass consumption and the subsequent accumulation of waste. The photographer began by researching how much waste Americans produce. The information shocked him: only 55 percent of the 220 million tons of waste generated annually end up in landfills. And this means that the rest is dumped in other places that are completely not intended for this, and thereby irreparable harm is done to the environment. The photographer filled up the apartments of friends with garbage to show what we are doing with the planet
